Financing held up
A lender’s due diligence finds gaps in the ESIA or management system, and financial close slips while they are fixed.
ES · Sustainability & ESG
Development banks, export buyers and institutional investors now expect evidence, not intentions. We prepare the assessments, management plans and reports they need to see, so approvals and disbursements stay on schedule.
Overview
Environmental and social performance has become a condition of finance and trade. Lenders such as IFC, ADB and AIIB require projects to meet their performance standards before they disburse. European buyers are extending due diligence down their supply chains. Investors and regulators expect credible sustainability disclosure.
We assess environmental and social risk against the IFC Performance Standards and the World Bank EHS Guidelines, and prepare the documents a lender’s E&S team expects to review. Where Pakistani law also requires an IEE or EIA, we build both from one baseline so you do not pay for the same fieldwork twice.
The challenges
A lender’s due diligence finds gaps in the ESIA or management system, and financial close slips while they are fixed.
Exporters lose orders when labour, OHS or environmental audits find non-conformities they cannot close quickly.
Sustainability reports promise targets that the underlying data systems cannot support or verify.
What we deliver

Questions
Pakistan’s environmental law requires an Initial Environmental Examination or an Environmental Impact Assessment, approved by the federal or provincial Environmental Protection Agency, depending on the type and size of the project. An ESIA to the IFC Performance Standards goes further. It covers labour, community health and safety, land, biodiversity and stakeholder engagement, which international lenders require. We often prepare both from one baseline.
Performance Standard 1, on assessing and managing E&S risks, applies to every project. The others apply when the related risks are present: labour (PS2), pollution and resource efficiency (PS3), community health and safety (PS4), land acquisition (PS5), biodiversity (PS6), Indigenous Peoples (PS7) and cultural heritage (PS8). Screening establishes which apply.
Yes. We run a gap review against the lender’s requirements, close the quick wins, and prepare an Environmental and Social Action Plan for the rest, so the lender sees a credible path to compliance.
